Trail Tools
OF4WD offers tools to help you plan your next 4WD adventure, go informed, and find your way home ready to go back for more.
To access the Trail Index and the ON4Maps app for Android and iOS, you need to maintain an active OF4WD membership. If you are not already a member, or if maybe you let your membership lapse, start by joining OF4WD either as an individual member or at a discount through one of our member clubs.
If you are already a member you can log in to the web site with your email address and password. To access the Trail Index and ON4Maps, you will need to complete a one-time short trail quiz to confirm you recognize basic principals around trail etiquette and safety.
Trail Index
The OF4WD web site hosts the Trail Index and provides a searchable index of 4WD Ontario trails with ratings, status, descriptions, location and history. Use any desktop computer or any mobile device web browser with access to the Internet.
Search or browse the map, tag the trails that suit your interests and click to download or email yourself the GPS track and waypoints in a GPX file, ready for use on any GPS unit or with your choice of mobile app. Find your favourite camp spot or pick a lookout destination.
Do come back periodically and check the Trail Index for updated information, new trails and status updates. Trails are updated weekly with incoming trail reports or more often in the case of emergencies.
ON4Maps
ON4Maps is the OF4WD mobile trail tool for Android and iOS mobile devices. Use it on your phone or tablet in your truck. Check it on a hike or from the couch.
Before you go
Get started by setting up an account with your email address and a password. Load the app from the app store, then download the latest updates BEFORE you leave the house. The app can run offline with no data service and will automatically update when you are back on the grid.
On the trail
ON4Maps provides real-time positioning, trail descriptions, waypoints, trail ratings and status and the most recent trail report. Record your travels and share when you have data service. If you and your friends have mobile data on the trail, you can share your location and find each other on the map.
Trail Reports
When you go, whether you find unexpected challenges or just have a perfect day, please file a trail report. Member trail reports feed back into both the Trail Index and ON4Maps for the benefit of all members and help the trail manager prioritize trail maintenance.
